Homedale is a free Wi-Fi monitor that can show the strength of wireless network signal. It launches as a portable application. Users are allowed to view channels, rates, MAC addresses, speed, a type of encryption, graph line for signal levels, and other technical information. You can export data to a text file or a picture and connect or disconnect from an access point.
It’s a lightweight utility that has a simple interface and powerful functionality. There are six tabs: Adapter Overview, Access Points, Access Point Signal Graph, Frequency Usage, Location, and Options. Adapter Overview shows detailed information about wireless devices on your PC. If you want to view channels used by SSIDs, you should open Access Points tab. To show a graph, use right-click of the mouse on selected access point and choose this option from the drop-down list. You can also export network information using Start logging option. Locations tab provides Google Geolocation, Mozilla Locations and WLAN Map services.
If you want to use command-line, make sure that you are working in admin account. Otherwise, it won’t work as you want. You also should know that there is no help screen or syntax display for command mode.
If you need to know signal strength of your network or search for Wi-Fi access points, this utility can be a very good choice. It’s easy in use and can be used as network logger as Wi-Fi scanner.
