PeaZip is a free archivator that can be a good alternative program to WinRAR or WinZip. This program allows users to create new archives and extract files. It has support for popular archiving extensions and user friendly interface. Plus, it provides a lot of useful functions.
The interface isn’t complicated as it can appear at first glance. It’s similar to a standard file explorer. Functional buttons are over the main screen. If you want to create a new archive, select files and push on Add button. Then setting window will appear. There are a lot of advanced options. Users can lock an archive using password. To view all files of your archive just double-click on the file. If you want to convert the format of the archive to another one, you should press on Convert button. All options are able from the context menu (right button of the mouse).
There are also diagnostic and testing functions. These options will help you to compare the archive size, hash (MD5, SHA256, SHA1) and checksum. If you want to launch system benchmark, open Tools tab and select this option. If you want to delete a file without chance to backup it, you should use Secure delete button. To change the current language, you need to open Options tab and select Localization. Then you should choose a text file that includes GUI translation.
PeaZip has strong encryption mechanism. It’s a good solution for those users who want to get free archiver with powerful functionality. The utility can be launched via command line mode.
