Scanning to grayscale thru Fastsone Viewer outputs RGB...
Hi,
Among other usages, I scan (double sided) sheets of paper thru "Faststone Image Viewer 7.6", thanks to its EASY "Simulate Duplex Scanning" option.
Before scanning, "Faststone Viewer" starts my scanner's interface, which happens to be "Canon IJ Scan Utility > ScanGear". So far so good...
Now, whenever I set the "ScanGear" dialog / window to "grayscale .tif", although the results LOOK like "grayscale" images, they are actually "RGB color" (as "Photoshop" &/or other tools report anyway).
Is there a way to prevent this, in order to scan directly to (actual) grayscale .tif images, instead of RGB?
It looks like some "Faststone" bug, as scanning thru "ScanGear" standalone, i.e. without "Faststone", does output (actual) grayscale images...
Though converting RGB images to grayscale is not difficult, it gets tedious (even by a Photoshop "action") in the case of hundreds (and thousands!) sheets to process...
Thank you for your answer(s).
