Zoom is a web-based application that allows you to create a video meeting and make calls. Users take control over the functions for video conferences and communication. Especially, they can send messages, schedule a meeting, record video calls, add new contacts, and invite participants to join a meeting using several ways. Besides, the app requires an account. Otherwise, you won’t provide access to the web service and its tools.
Zoom desktop client has an easy-in-use interface with a customizable background image. On the main screen, there are four options for creating an online session. The New Meeting button responds to hosting a new video conference. Join option will help you to connect to a meeting by ID. Before you connect to a conference you will be able to turn off audio or video stream. Also, you can set up the scheduled date of the meeting using Schedule function. As for the Contacts tab, it stores your contacts and channels.
There is also the Chat tab that allows you to send GIF animations, messages, screenshots, and files via instant messenger that built in the app. To navigate between contacts and stored files, you can use the smart side-bar which is on the left of the screen. If you want to manage your conferences, you should pay attention to the Meetings screen. It allows you to copy invitation URL, edit, and launch a meeting in seconds. Also, the screen will help you to discover recorded video calls and schedule meetings from Outlook or Google Calendar.
The video conference screen provides convenient options for communication with participants. You can turn on / off your microphone and webcam, lock meetings, manage participants, add a waiting room, send text messages, record a video call, share screen, and others. It looks like a standalone app with a lot of useful functions.
